Celia Chapman

I live in Gainesville where I moved in October of
2006 from Sarasota to be close to my son, his wife
and two little girls. It was a very good move. My
other son lives in Cooperstown, NY with his wife and
two-year-old twins. I was a member of IONS for a
while in Sarasota and am so pleased to reconnect
with a group here in North Central Florida. I still
work full-time in administration for a government
funded organization in workforce development.
I grew up on a farm in Manitoba, Canada with seven
brothers and sisters. My parents were Christian
Scientists and I always felt “different” because, as a
child in school, we never got immunizations and I
hated being different. Then in eighth grade my
Mother got sick and died at home, choosing to go
without medical care. I made up lots of stories
around that.
Having a foundation in Christian Science made me
very open to New Thought teachings and my life
path has taken me through Religious Science,
Unitarianism, A Course In Miracles and now it all
seems to be summed up in The Work of Byron
Katie. I was introduced to The Work in 2002 by a
friend with whom I was studying ACIM. I attended
the nine-day School for The Work in the fall of 2002
and the rest is history. I was privileged to have
Katie as my house guest when she came to
Sarasota in 2003. I was one of the first facilitators
to become Certified in 2008. I now facilitate clients
in person and by phone.
I help self-aware people who are struggling with a
relationship (with partner, co-worker, child, parent,
self, body, job, money) and who know there is a
better way. I LOVE The Work. I have experienced
huge shifts in my own life by investigating my
thoughts. I am so honored to offer that possibility to
others by helping them identify and question
stressful, limiting beliefs. My job, as I ask the four
Questions, is to hold the space for my client to go
inside and find their own Truth, and then, for them
to experience that the opposite of what they
believed is actually as true or truer. This often
results in laughter bubbling up and huge relief, as
what is really true becomes apparent. I love to
witness The Work at work in the lives of my clients.
