Who is Chris Shute?
Chris always wondered why he is here and where he came
from. Progressing in un-learning the world, he's discovered
"self" is the same as every self. The first half of this life he
looked for happiness in the world through possessions and
experiences. At some point around his mid-twenties he realized
that any happiness that is contingent on the external world is
transient and doomed - what goes up comes down and what is
new today is old tomorrow. There is no amount of any THING
that will bring anything but temporary satisfaction, and
ultimately frustration and disappointment. It is not what we
have, it's what we do with what we have that matters. The world
is a paradox -- we are all continuously changing, yet eternally
the same one.
Chris was born in Illinois, July of 1950 and spent his formative
years in Wisconsin Dells. He lives in gratitude to his parents for
their love, acceptance and guidance...all of which helped to
keep him out of jail. He thanks his grandparents who sent him
to college, and helped to keep him out of Viet Nam. Family,
nation, earth and universe are continuously nudging him toward
waking up from a human doing to a human being to inter-being
(concept from Thich Nhat Hanh). Chris has been married to
Lorri - a beautiful artist, teacher, skier, mom since May, 1972
and is the father of a daughter and son who have been role
models for him since their births in 1979 and '81.
He flew helicopters for the US Army in Texas, Alabama and
Washington state in the mid-seventies. After the Army he flew
as a tuna spotter on the high seas from San Diego, was an
instructor and mechanic in Oregon, forest fire fighter and lighter
in Oregon, Washington and Utah, Mt. St. Helens aerial taxi
driver and tour guide after "the eruption", fish and game
surveyor in the Northwest and Alaska, the list goes on. After
many "exciting" times, including crashes and "incidents", he
accepted a job in 1982 in a family business in Ocala selling
broadcast equipment. He continues to fly a desk with his wife
and "children" working with the extended family, and the
business continues to grow.
Chris appreciates the influence of many awakened teachers
and is fond of Deepak Chopra's saying - "Jesus was not a
Christian, Buddha was not a Buddhist, Krishna was not a
Hindu." Striving for perfection, and realizing THIS is IT - and IT
is within us ALL. As Eckhart Tolle says; "We can only change
the world from within." We can all envision our common
intention for peace and happiness.
IONS is helping us Shift! None of us exists independently from
the rest of us, and the more we realize our influence and
dependence on others (inter-being) the more profound this
Shift becomes. "Look through the microscope or through the
telescope, and it's impossible to say which has the grander
view."
Finally, paraphrased from Stephen Wolinsky and his Teacher
Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj; Quantum physics and quantum
psychology both reduce the world to one substance, not two,
and we are that. The difference is that quantum physics
reduces the world to the smallest particles or waves of energy.
Quantum psychology goes the next step to pure consciousness
- beyond energy or form - We are nothing conceivable or
perceivable - this is our one true essence.
